Society of St. Stephens

Named after a Bible study society that had a heart for serving in local ministry to the community, Blueridge’s Society of St. Stephens ministry is devoted to serving food to those in need in our community. We serve sacks of groceries once a month to anyone in need. We are in the process of increasing the number of days we serve and the reach of this ministry based on the need we see around us. Our ministry is always in need of volunteers and donations. Contact us at office@blueridgeumchouston.org or 713-733-5174

Tuesday Morning Prayer

Tuesday morning’s we share a meal, pray and study scripture with some of the most vulnerable folks in our community. Feel free to join us at 10:00 am

BRASS - Blue Ridge Area Seniors (BRASS)

(BRASS) is an active and vital fellowship ministry on campus. The senior adult ministry made up of Blueridge members 55 years of age and older was established  approximately in 1996 and continues to grow. The current president Patrick Gardner and the support team plan educational and exciting activities for the group. BRASS has taken trips to museums, picnics, and historical monuments. This year alone the group has taken over four trips both within and outside of Houston. However, the ministry’s purpose is about more than attending field trips. The organization is built on the foundation of fellowship modeled after scripture, (Acts 2: 46-47 )”With one accord they continued to meet daily in the temple courts and to break bread from house to house, sharing their meals with gladness and sincerity of heart,” praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people; and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Every meeting is an experience, there will always be plenty of laughter,  joy, and good old fashioned fellowship.

Christian Education

It is the vision of the Blueridge UM Education ministry to provide Christian educational opportunities by teaching God’s word in Bible studies, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, confirmation classes and other means in which we experience God’s grace. We invite, encourage, and challenge all children, youth and adults to be transformed as we study God’s word and grow as disciples of Christ.

  • Adult Bible Study We currently meet weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm. Studies range from topical studies, book studies, and scripture studies all with the purpose of helping us grow deeper in our faith, closer to God and in love for one another.
  • Youth Bible Study
  • Vacation Bible School An annual week-long, fun, engaging, hands-on Bible learning experience for children and youth. VBS is offered in the summer.
  • Confirmation Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God’s grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation. During confirmation class, confirmands learn about the meaning of Christian faith; the history and teachings and The United Methodist Church; and an explanation of the baptismal and membership vows they will be professing. Confirmation classes usually begin in the fall and conclude with Confirmation in the spring.
Our Neighborhood and Community
  • Boy Scouts Troop 434 has been in existence at Blueridge UMC for over 30 years. The scouting program assembles young men for participation in activities that further instill traits and values of character development, faith, physical fitness, leadership, and citizenship. This troop has produced over 30 Eagle Scouts in our 30 year history. We meet weekly on Saturdays from noon to 1:30 pm. Contact us for more information.

Worship and Arts
  • Choirs The choirs of Blueridge count it a privilege to serve God through the ministry of music. We strive to worship God through the singing of psalms, hymns, gospels, and contemporary spiritual songs. It is important to this ministry of music that we are not performing but that we invite the members of the congregation to lift up their voices in praise as well. The Blueridge UMC choir members are volunteers who love to praise God with their vocal and musical talents alongside our exceptional musicians.
